Nikola introduced a new hydrogen truck
Nikola Motor is known for developing hydrogen trucks - the manufacturer already has two models that are being prepared for production. Now the company has introduced a third model: it is called Tre (translated from Norwegian to third) and is intended for the European market.
The first two trucks - One and Two - Nikola orientates on the American market, and they are already available for pre-order. For example, Anheuser-Busch, a Budweiser beer maker, has already pre-ordered hundreds of One trucks - they are expected to begin shipping to the United States by 2020.
Now, with the Tre model, Nikola is aiming at the European market. The new truck received a slightly different design from the first two models and will be available in 6 x 4 and 6 x 2 configurations. The indicated characteristics of the Tre are basically similar to those of the One and Two: the truck will receive a power plant with power from 500 to 1, 000 horsepower and up to 2, 000 Nm of torque, the range will be from 500 to 1, 200 kilometers, and it will be possible to completely fill the car in about 20 minutes.
The production of Tre Nikola hopes to start around 2022-2023. It is noted that the prototype Tre will be presented at the Nikola World event, which will be held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, in April 2019; testing Tre, according to Nikola, should start in Norway around 2020.
