New Doom recreated on the engine of the original Doom 2: blood and guts
The tradition of transferring old games to a new, more modern engine is not new - fans of popular game franchises are ready to play good old games as much as they like, especially if they are “rejuvenated” thanks to more modern technologies. However, Doom 4 Vanilla is a truly global project. If the 2016 modern Doom is a three-dimensional hybrid of a shooter and a butcher simulator, then the old engine can only work with 2D sprites. Therefore, everything from weapons and surroundings to effects had to be drawn literally from scratch - you involuntarily begin to envy such hard work. Along the way, both the player and the monsters acquired an arsenal of new abilities that the players have yet to explore. By the way, you can download the mod here, but it requires only the original Doom 2 game.
