Mercedes-Benz showed the serial crossover GLB
The name GLB suggests that the crossover will take place between the GLA and GLC in the model line of the brand. The car is built on a junior front-wheel drive platform with a transverse engine. It is only 35 millimeters shorter than the GLC (4634), 56 mm narrower than it (1834), but 14 mm higher (1658). But on a wheelbase (2829 mm) GLB gets exactly between the GLA (2699) and GLC (2873).
But the main feature of the Mercedes-Benz GLB is a seven-seater saloon! However, only children up to 1.68 meters tall will fit in the third row - for child seats there are Isofix mounts. The back of the second row can be folded in the ratio of 40:20:40 (the pillow is folded in the ratio of 60:40), each of which has seven positions in the angle of inclination, for an extra charge there is a longitudinal adjustment of the seats in the range of 14 centimeters.
In the five-seater configuration, the trunk is the same as that of the GLC: 560 liters, which can be increased by another 179 by moving the sofa forward. Trunk volume with three rows of Mercedes does not report. The interior design repeats models based on the A-class, the list of options is the same. There are four engines so far: GLB 200 with a 1.3-liter 163-horsepower turbo engine, GLB 250 with a 2-liter 224-horsepower turbo engine, GLB 200 d with a 2-liter 150-horsepower turbo diesel and GLB 220 d with a 2-liter 190-horsepower turbodiesel.
The junior motor is equipped with a 7-speed “robot”, and the other three use the new 8-speed. The GLB 35 and 45 from AMG will be released later. In the "base" - front-wheel drive, for an extra charge - a rear axle coupling, adaptive shock absorbers and an Off-Road Engineering package with off-road mode, mountain descent and lift start assist systems. On sale Mercedes-Benz GLB will appear at the end of the year.
