10 ways to survive in a plane crash

Recently, the media have increasingly reported problems with the operation of airliners, aircraft crashes and other extreme situations in the air. If you fly regularly and want to be prepared for emergency situations, follow these guidelines.

What can be done before the flight?

1. Choose large planes. If you have a choice on which airliner to fly, choose the most dimensional model possible. But in general, the chances of survival increase if you choose places no further than five rows from any of the exits.

If you did not get a place at the exit and within five rows from it, then sit down at the aisle. In addition to making it easier for you to go to the restroom, you will have a better chance of surviving than sitting at the windows.

3. Dress properly. Choosing the right clothes can protect you from some of the injuries you might get during a crash.

So much fuel is poured into airplanes that a fire is very likely in an accident. Try to wear long-sleeved clothing while also avoiding shorts and skirts. This can protect you from burns. Clothing made of nylon and other synthetic materials is highly flammable, so try to wear things made of natural fibers - cotton, wool, etc. during the flight.

The choice of shoes is also very important. When you get out of an airplane that has crashed, you need to quickly run away from the crash site (more on this later), so don’t wear high-heeled shoes that make it easy to tuck your foot when running, and flip flops: you can completely lose them.
