10 things that should never be put in the dishwasher

Garlic Press and Sieve

These kitchen accessories are not easy to wash with your hands. The temptation to shift this work to the dishwasher is great, but alas: you still have to do it yourself. Garlic particles get so stuck in the press net that even jets of water supplied under pressure are not able to push them out. With sieve, the situation is even worse. Upon contact with water, the flour turns into a sticky mass, clogging into tiny holes.

Kitchen knives

A high-quality knife with a diamond turning is not a cheap pleasure. And, if you have already spent on the acquisition of such a valuable item, take care of it correctly. Under the influence of abrasive detergents, knives quickly lose their sharpness. In addition, while the machine is operating, water jets can throw them onto adjacent objects - and this also badly affects their cutting properties.

Antique dishes

If you value the dishes that you inherited from your grandmother, never wash them in the dishwasher. These rare items were made at a time when miracle technology was still not in the plans. The composition of ceramics was very different from today, and risking porcelain is not at all worth it. Antique dishes can only be washed by hand.

Plastic containers

Despite the widespread opinion, not all plastic dishes can be washed in a dishwasher. The exposure to chemicals in detergents and high temperatures can withstand only those containers on which there is a special marking - an icon with the image of plates and glasses under running water. If it is crossed out, such dishes should not be washed in a dishwasher, otherwise the plastic may melt or change its physical properties, becoming unsuitable for use.

Wooden spoons and boards

Any items made of natural wood do not tolerate prolonged contact with water. Cutting boards, spatulas and spoons are no exception. It is preferable to wash such kitchen accessories with your hands and as quickly as possible so that the tree does not have time to be saturated with liquid, otherwise it will quickly become worthless - it will crack or rot.

Bowls for animals

This is a very common mistake that pet owners often make. Studies show that more than 60% of containers designed for feeding pets are infected with salmonella. The bacterium easily withstands a standard dishwashing cycle. Moreover, it also survives in very hot water, spreading through the compartments of the device and infecting everything that is there.

Sticker Dishes

Before sending dishes to the machine, make sure that all stickers are removed from it. Otherwise, you risk clogging the filter and blocking the operation of the equipment for a long time.

Non-stick cookware

With the invention of non-stick cookware, many breathed a sigh of relief. However, in fact, she was very moody. The top layer, providing its basic properties, does not tolerate the rough effects of hard brushes, abrasive detergents and cutlery. As practice has shown, high temperatures in combination with aggressive detergents in the dishwasher gradually destroy the coating, so manufacturers recommend washing such dishes by hand.

Aluminum and copper

Dishes and interior items made of these two metals do not tolerate intensive washing in a dishwasher. Polished surfaces lose their luster. Scratches, stains and stains appear on the dishes, which are then difficult to remove.

Glued dishes

If you have once managed to save an object dear to you, do not tempt fate a second time. Broken dishes must be handled with extreme care. Hot water jets can quickly soften the glue and nullify all your previous attempts to restore its pristine beauty.
